EDITOR'S WORD

Meet Elene Beraya, Agrotech Development Director, who has worked on greenhouse constructions and cultivating vegetables. She has also been given the Order of Merit for organising various charity events. Here, she shares how she makes corporate suits more interesting to wear, her favorite Belgian designers and her biggest inspirations in life.

Why did you choose this look?

I’ve been working in a corporate world, since I was 19 years old, suits have a special place in my heart and wardrobe. Since corporate attire is a little bit boring to me, I’ve always added things like oversized jackets or high-waisted long pants. That is why I chose this look, my favorite combination- black Dion Lee suit (I love this brand). It has interesting details, such as silver buttons and visible silver zipper on the pants that look refreshing.

How would you describe your personal style?

It changed through times, but what I can say so far, I would describe my style as simple. Sometimes I wake up and choose a classy and sophisticated look, sometimes I want to be a student from Boston and go for comfort.

What is your most cherished fashion-related memory?

The way I got my Kelly bag, which is a hell of a story. It took place in Tokyo, a lady was standing in front of the mirror choosing between a Birkin or a Kelly, she decided to go with a bigger one and put the Kelly bag down. I saw that, went straight towards this bordeaux piece of perfection and told a consultant that I’m definitely taking this bag! It was a lucky coincidence indeed.

What is the best fashion/beauty advice you have ever received?

Less is more.

The most disliked trend?

Well, I know that hate is a stong word, but I trully can’t stand sheer tights, especially those with the tan-effect.

Elene's Choice

Which designer/brand does not disappoint you every season and why?

When I was thinking of an answer to this question, I looked into my wardrobe and saw the clothes that were inside, Belgian designers never disappoint me, Martin Margiela, Dries van Noten, I would add Loewe to this list.

What is the one thing you can’t leave your home without?

Definitely, my phone and earphones.

Who/what inspires you?

I find inspiration in small things, for example, I’m always mesmerized by the moon, early mountain sunrises/sunsets, bass lines in my favorite songs, my family.

Describe your daily routine.

I believe in taking care of myself, a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine. I’ve always wanted to answer that question the way Patrick Bateman did (‘American Psycho’). I wake up, turn on my Spotify playlists to start the day on a right note. After a morning shower and coffee, I have zoom-meetings. In the evenings, I spend time with my friends/family, before bedtime I usually read or watch movies.
