EDITOR'S WORDWe had a chance to speak to Princess Maria-Immaculata of Lichtenstein while she was visiting Georgia. Her love for travel has led her to exploring the country and its culture this summer before embarking on a new job. Having worked with the UN at the start of her career, she has decided to return to philanthropy and move to Africa to help local capacity building for communities to allow them to become self-sustainable and develop eco-tourism. Here she shares her style advice, making conscious decisions and choosing eco-friendly materials and brands. |

Why did you choose this look? When I saw the outfit I thought I was really hip and young, while at the same time being classy, elegant and timeless. I think it goes well with my personality and can be worn for so many different functions; for example, brunch with the girls, dinner in a nice restaurant or drinks in a bar and also work.

How would you describe your personal style? My personal style greatly varies and depends first of all on my mood, but also on the occasion. I like wearing comfortable clothes like a pair of sneakers with a high-waist jean and a nice blouse on top; being comfortable and effortlessly cool. At the same time, I also love wearing dresses because they enhance my femininity and make me feel good. The most disliked trend?Having to follow a trend just because it is a trend, is a no-go for me. If something is trendy but doesn’t suit my personality or body type, I would never wear it, although I sometimes wish I could because some so-called “trendy” clothes just look amazing, but unfortunately do not suit me. I think it is important to be in sync with yourself and thus find and create your own personal trend and individual signature.

What is the best fashion/beauty advice you have ever received?I once went shopping with a personal shopper and stylist and she gave me great advice on what kind of clothes suit my figure and personality. But most importantly, she told me “be bold in your choices” – so from then on, depending on the occasion I attended I remember that when I go shopping or dress up.
What is your most cherished fashion-related memory?Going through my grandmother’s closet and admiring all the beautiful ball and party gowns from the 1950s and 60s, which were often made specifically for her with beautiful fabrics and looked amazing.

Which designer/brand does not disappoint you every season and why?I don’t have a favourite: I am more and more looking for designers whose clothes are high-quality, sustainable and eco-friendly, as I believe this to be crucial while I also appreciate the texture of the sustainable materials more.
What is the one thing you can’t leave your home without?I would say my mobile phone, but it has happened to me that I forgot it at home and the day turned out great without the constant need to be available.

Who/what inspires you?My friends and family and the amazing people I am lucky to have in my life.
Describe your daily routine.I usually wake up early and start my day with a shower and then a nice breakfast. I then go to work and it is only in the late evenings that I sometimes have time to call or meet my friends, family etc. Since the pandemic this has changed however: I started taking the time to do sports at least 3x a week while re-orienting my career and focusing more on my friends and family in the evenings. |
